What is Avène Mattifying Cleansing Foam?

Avène Mattifying Cleansing Foam is lightweight, soap-free and removes make-up from both the face and eyes in addition to helping regulate sebum production. Glutamic acid helps to mattify the skin by rebalancing sebum production, while moisturising agents restore the skin's suppleness. This gentle foaming cleanser eliminates impurities, excess sebum and tightens the pores, while the Avène Thermal Spring Water is clinically proven to be soothing and anti‐irritating.

How to use this product

To use, wet your face or your fingertips and gently massage the cleansing foam into your skin using circular motions. Rinse off and delicately towel‐dry your face. To complete your Avène skincare routine, use Avène Cleanance Comedomed Anti-Blemishes Concentrate, Avène Hydrance Intense Rehydrating Serum and Avène Hydrance Rich-UV Hydrating Cream SPF30 Moisturiser.

How do the active ingredients work?

Avène Mattifying Cleansing Foam contains glutamic acid to mattify and control excess oil, and zinc to soothe irritation and calm the skin. The other active ingredient is Avène Thermal Spring Water that’s unique and anti-irritating with soothing properties that leaves the skin feeling soothed, supple and soft.

How do I know if I have sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin is a common problem which usually means your skin is easily irritated by products or environmental factors. You may notice redness, dryness and your skin may develop a bumpy rash when it’s exposed to a trigger. Your skin might also be more prone to breakouts and sunburn compared to people without sensitive skin.

What type of acne do I have?

Acne is a skin condition that results in spots caused by the build up of too much sebum (oil) in the hair follicles in your skin. There are different types of acne and different levels of severity. The different types of spots include blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts.

Your acne may be deemed as severe if you develop nodules (large, hard, painful lumps that build up beneath the surface of the skin) or cysts (large, pus-filled lumps that look similar to boils). At this stage, you should seek advice from your GP for expert treatment to avoid scarring, especially if it’s making you feel very unhappy.

When should this product not be used?

Do not use Avène Mattifying Cleansing Foam if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. For use on the skin only, avoid contact with eyes and do not swallow. Do not use on broken, bleeding, infected or otherwise damaged skin. If you experience any irritation while using this product, stop using it right away. If irritation persists, speak to your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible. If irritation is severe (for example, symptoms of a severe allergic reaction), seek immediate medical assistance.

Gordon,

I use this instead of soap for facial washing. I apply it to dry skin using 2 or 3 finger tips in a light circular motion. Wash off with warm water. It maybe a little expensive but it works well and does last a long time.
