What are Accu-Chek Aviva Test Strips?

Accu-Chek Aviva Test Strips are used as a part of the Accu-Chek Aviva blood glucose meter. It helps to monitor your diabetes by checking the amount of glucose that is in your blood at any one time. This helps you to meet your goals and feel more confident as you go about your daily life.

What is diabetes?

Diabetes is a long-term condition which means that the levels of glucose in your blood becomes too high. The most common type of diabetes in the UK is Type 2 diabetes, which means that your body does not create enough insulin, which controls the levels of glucose in your blood.

Why is it important to test my blood glucose levels?

If you have diabetes, it’s very important to test your blood glucose levels as it can help you to monitor your diabetes. You can see how your day to day actions affect your blood glucose levels, enabling you to make the best choices for your health. This helps to prevent the medical complications that can be caused by diabetes.

How do Accu-Chek Aviva Test Strips work?

Accu-Chek Aviva Test Strips use a blood glucose testing system that reacts to the amount of glucose in your blood. It only takes a small drop of blood to work and are used alongside a meter to give you a blood glucose reading that will help you to monitor your diabetes.

How to use Accu-Chek Aviva Test Strips.

Use Accu-Chek Aviva Test Strips with your Accu-Chek Aviva blood glucose meter. Before testing, make sure your hands are clean and dry. Insert one Aviva test strip into the meter, ensuring the test strip and blood drop symbols appear on the display. Use your finger pricking device to draw a drop of blood from your finger. Touch the drop of blood to the front edge of the yellow window on your Aviva test strip, making sure that you do not apply blood to the top of the test strip, or to the top of the yellow window. When you see a flashing hourglass, you have applied enough blood and you will soon see your test results on the screen.
