EarCalm Spray is a treatment for minor outer ear infections.
How EarCalm Spray works
EarCalm contains the active ingredient acetic acid, which is an antibacterial agent. This means that it fights off the bacteria which cause ear infections, treating the problem at its source and helping to clear and relieve symptoms.
Directions
Always use EarCalm Spray exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Shake the spray well before use.
Place the nozzle tip into the ear and press the pump once to deliver one dose of EarCalm.
Spray one dose into each ear at least three times a day, leaving 2 or 3 hours between each application.
Continue using EarCalm for 2 days after symptoms have disappeared, but do not use it for more than 7 continuous days. Wipe the nozzle with a tissue after use.
Side effects
Like all medicines, EarCalm may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects may include:
- A stinging sensation in the ear
- A burning sensation in the ear
- An irritated ear canal
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
If you experience any pain or your hearing is affected after using this product, discontinue use and speak to your healthcare provider immediately.
Warnings
EarCalm Spray may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before using this product.
Age restrictions
This product is unsuitable for children under 12 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new medicine.
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
