What is plaque?
Plaque is a thin, colourless film that forms over your teeth and gums throughout the day. It’s made up of bacteria and sugars and when it builds up on your teeth it can cause tooth decay and gum disease. Some of the most common symptoms of tooth decay include
- Toothache – a constant ache or occasional sharp pain
- Sensitive teeth, causing pain when you eat and drink
- Bad breath
- Discolouration on the teeth, including the formation of brown, black, or grey spots
- An unpleasant taste in the mouth
How can chewing gum help to prevent plaque?
Chewing gum can help to reduce plaque by stimulating your saliva production. After you eat or drink, the plaque pH levels in your mouth fall giving plaque acid the chance to attack your teeth. When you chew Wrigley’s Extra White for 20 minutes you help to neutralise these pH levels and reduce plaque build-up.
How will Wrigley’s Extra White help to whiten my teeth?
Wrigley’s Extra White contain microgranules which brush against your teeth as you chew, helping to remove stains. This helps to maintain your teeth’s natural whiteness.
