What are Complan Shakes?

Complan Shakes are a high energy nutritional supplement for those who struggle to meet their nutritional needs with their regular diet. They’re gluten free and can be made up quickly and easily using water or milk. Complan Shakes are available in 5 delicious flavours; banana, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and original.

 

Who would need a nutritional shake?

Nutritional shakes are ideal for those who are struggling to meet their nutritional needs from their diet. This could be because they’re struggling to swallow or chew food, or have lost their appetite. They can also be used by those who are recovering from surgery or illnesses, to help them to get the nutrients they need until they’ve made a full recovery.

 

What nutrients are in these nutritional shakes?

Each Complan Shake contains a range of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that everyone needs day in day out. Each serving of a shake made with whole milk contains 380 calories, 15.5g of protein, 44.7g of carbohydrates, and 47g of fat. The vitamins and minerals in each serving made with whole milk include:

  • Vitamin A - 352µg
  • Vitamin D – 5.4µg
  • Vitamin C – 31mg
  • Iron – 4mg
  • Calcium – 559mg (mmol)

How to take Complan Shakes

You will need 200ml of whole milk or water to make each Complan Shake. First, pour out 50ml of milk or water into a large glass or mug and add in one Complan Shake sachet. Mix together with a whisk or fork to form a smooth cream and then stir in the remaining 150ml of milk or water. Drink within 2 hours of making, or store in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Do not take more than the recommended daily dose. Read patient information leaflet carefully before using this product.

 

When should Complan Shakes not be used?

This product is for medical purposes only and should only be used under medical supervision. Complan Shakes are not suitable for use by children under the age of 3. Use with caution in children aged between 3 – 6. Do not take this product if you are allergic to cow’s milk or any of the other listed ingredients. This product is not suitable for patients with galactosaemia. Speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking any other medication, or have an underlying medical condition. This product is a food supplement and should not be used as a sole source of nutrition.
