What is Aptamil Pepti 2?

Aptamil Pepti 2 is a formula that is designed specifically for babies that have an allergy to cow’s milk. The formula contains extra calcium, vitamin D and iron, making it ideal for little ones older than 6 months. Aptamil 2 is the only formula to contain Galacto- and Fructo-oligosaccharides, which help the growth of friendly bacteria in the gut.

Who is Aptamil Pepti 2 suitable for?

It is suitable for babies aged from 6 months and over who are allergic to cow’s milk. When a baby is allergic to cow’s milk it can be difficult to find a formula feed that’s right for them. However, you and your doctor may decide that Pepti 2 is the best choice for you and your little one as they grow.

What is a cow’s milk allergy (CMA)?

Many babies suffer with cow’s milk allergies, and your doctor can diagnose this at a young age. The good news is that infants usually grow out of this allergy as they get older, but if you’re a parent struggling to find a way to feed your baby, this allergy can make you feel stressed and worried. However, once your baby has been diagnosed with their allergy, there are lots of things you can do to keep it under control, including using a formula designed especially for babies who are allergic to cow’s milk.

Why is this formula right for my baby?

If your baby has a cow’s milk allergy (CMA) then this formula could be exactly what you need to compliment their weaning diet. The milk proteins in this formula are broken down so they are less likely to cause an allergic reaction, making it ideal for little ones aged 6 months and over who have CMA.

What is the difference between Aptamil Pepti 1 and Pepti 2?

Aptamil Pepti 1 and Pepti 2 are both designed to support babies who have CMA and need a feed designed with this in mind. They use a very similar formula, but Aptamil Pepti 1 is designed to be used from birth, whereas Pepti 2 is perfect for babies aged 6 months and over. Pepti 2 has larger amounts of essential nutrients, such as calcium and iron, which little ones need as they grow older than 6 months.

What nutrients does this formula contain?

Each 100ml of prepared Aptamil 2 feed includes the following vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients:

  • Calcium – 63mg
  • Iron – 1mg
  • Protein – 1.6g
  • Vitamin D – 1.4µg
  • Vitamin C – 9.2mg

For a full list of the nutrients in this product, please read the patient information leaflet.

When should the formula be used?

Aptamil Pepti 2 should only be used after speaking with your doctor or another medical professional about all of the feeding options that could be right for your baby, including breastfeeding. If you and your doctor both agree that this product is the best thing to give to your little one, then you can start using this product under medical supervision.

How to make up Aptamil Pepti 2 formula

First, wash your hands and sterilise all of the utensils that you plan to use to make this product. Boil a litre of fresh water (water which has not been artificially softened or repeatedly boiled) and leave in the kettle to cool for no more than 30 minutes. Measure the amount of water you need into a sterilised bottle. Use the scoop provided to measure 1 level scoop of powder, levelling off with a clean knife, and add this scoop of powder to the water. Put the cap on the bottle and shake for 25 seconds to mix together. Remove the cap and replace with sterilised teat, then cool the bottle by holding under a running tap. Check the temperature of the feed and give to your little one right away.

When should Aptamil Pepti 2 not be used?

Aptamil Pepti 2 is not suitable for use in infants under the age of 6 months. Do not use this product if your baby is allergic to fish or any of the other listed ingredients. Although there are milk proteins in this product, they have been broken down to reduce the likelihood of an allergic reaction, so this product can be used to manage the diet of babies with cow’s milk allergies. This product is for special medical purposes and should only be used under medical supervision, if you’re not sure whether this product is right for you or your baby, speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using it. Read the patient information leaflet carefully before use.

Are there any side effects?

Like all medicines, Aptamil Pepti 2 can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. These side effects include those caused by an allergic reaction. If you experience any side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist right away.
