What is Aptamil Pepti 1?

Aptamil Pepti 1 is a formula made with 100% whey protein which is ideal for babies who have an allergy to cow’s milk. Aptamil Pepti 1 can be used from birth and is suitable for babies up to a year old.

What is an allergy to cow’s milk?

A cow’s milk allergy is one of the most common food allergies found in infants. When your baby is suffering from an allergic reaction to cow’s milk, they may experience the following symptoms:

  • Vomiting
  • Stomach cramps
  • Rashes
  • Eczema
  • Hives
  • Diarrhoea
  • Difficulty breathing

These symptoms can be particularly worrying for parents, but when your baby has been diagnosed with a cow’s milk allergy, they can be avoided and treated.

Why is Aptamil Pepti 1 suitable for babies who are allergic to cows’ milk?

Aptamil Pepti 1 is perfect for babies who have a cows’ milk allergy as it provides the nutrition that your baby needs as they grow while reducing the risk of an allergic reaction. Its nutritionally complete formula is ideal for those looking for a way to manage their baby’s diet knowing that they have CMA.

How do I know if my baby has a cow’s milk allergy?

Cow’s milk allergies are very difficult to diagnose, so if you suspect that your baby may have an allergy, you should speak to your doctor right away. If your doctor confirms that your baby has CMA then they may recommend a specialised feed, such as Aptamil Pepti 1, to help you to manage your baby’s diet. You should always speak to your doctor or health visitor before changing your baby’s diet, to make sure that you’re making the best choice for both of you.

The ingredients list says that this product contains milk, is this still safe for my baby?

Although this product does contain milk, the milk proteins in this product have been hydrolysed. This means that they are broken down to reduce the chance of an allergic reaction. If you’re still unsure whether this product is safe for your baby, speak to your doctor for advice.

Is this milk suitable for specialist diets?

Apramil Pepti 1 is not suitable for vegetarian or vegan diets. This product is not Halaal approved.

How to use Aptamil Pepti 1

Before preparing Aptamil Pepti 1, wash your hands and sterilise all utensils according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Boil some freshly run water in a kettle and leave to cool for 30 minutes. Measure the correct amount of water, as referenced in the feeding guide, into a sterilised bottle. Use the scoop provided to add the correct amount of powder to the water, use a clean knife to level off the scoop of required. Put the cap on the bottle and shake well for 25 seconds. Remove the cap and replace with a sterilised teat. Cool bottle under a running tap, check the temperature of feed before giving to your infant.

Can I make this feed and store it to use later?

You should only make your Aptamil Pepti 1 feed when you need it and give it to your baby as soon as possible. Discard any unused feed as soon as possible, and do not keep for more than 2 hours. Do not heat this feed in the microwave, as this can cause hot spots which may cause scalding.

When should Aptamil Pepti 1 not be used?

Supervise infants at all times when feeding. Do not refrigerate this product. Do not use Aptamil Pepti 1 if you or your infant are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. Use within 4 weeks of opening.

This seems to be ideal for my child who gets very snuffly and uncomfortable on dairy formula since being on this they have become more settled, no longer snuggly and much happier.
