What is Daktarin Powder?

Daktarin Powder is a treatment for fungal infections which can also be used to ease bacterial infections and nappy rash. It’s perfect for skin infections which appear on your hands, feet, outer ear, torso, groin, and many other areas, treating the infection and keeping it from coming back again.

What are fungal infections?

Fungal infections are caused by a natural fungus, or yeast, which lives on your skin. This is usually harmless, but when given moist, warm conditions this fungus can start to thrive, growing too much greater numbers than usual. When this happens, you can experience a fungal infection, such as athlete’s foot or thrush.

How will Daktarin Powder treat my fungal infection?

Each gram of Daktarin Powder contains 20mg of the active ingredient, miconazole nitrate, an antifungal medication. This ingredient works by destroying the fungus which causes fungal infections and other bacteria which may be lurking around the infected area. It also helps to dry out the skin, which can make it more difficult for fungus to thrive, preventing further infection.

Can I use this product to treat a nappy rash?

Daktarin Powder can be used to treat nappy rash. However, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this to treat nappy rash, so you can both be sure that this is the best possible treatment for your little one.

Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product. Some medications may not be suitable for you or your baby at this time and a medical professional may want to suggest another product.

Can I use this product if I’m taking other medication?

If you’re taking other medication, including those you obtained without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product. This especially applies to oral anticoagulants, which are used to thin the blood, such as warfarin.

Which Daktarin product should I use?

If you have a fungal infection then it can be confusing to choose a product that will help you get back to normal. At the top of this page, we've included a comparison table of every Daktarin product, which shows you which conditions each product can treat. Remember, although this table is a good guideline, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using Daktarin products if you're unsure what you're suffering from and what you should use for it.

How to use this antifungal powder

Once the infection has cleared, continue using this product for another 10 days, to keep the infection from coming back.
