What are Optrex Soothing Eye Drops for itchy eyes?

Optrex Soothing Eye Drops work to relieve itching and irritation in your eyes caused by hay fever. If you’re struggling with itchy eyes, these eye drops can help to ease that irritating itching sensation, leaving you feeling refreshed and comfortable again. You can also use these eye drops for other allergies, such as pet fur and dust mites.

Why does hay fever make my eyes itch?

When you have hay fever, your body is allergic to something called pollen, which is produced and released into the air by plants. When you come into contact with pollen your body reacts to it, trying to remove it by causing irritating symptoms. These symptoms include:

  • Itchy eyes, ears, nose, and throat
  • Watery, red eyes
  • Swelling around the eyes
  • Sneezing
  • Coughing
  • A blocked or runny nose
  • Rashes

How to Optrex Soothing Eye Drops work to relieve itchy eyes?

Optrex Soothing Eye Drops contain witch hazel, a natural plant extract which is traditionally used for its soothing properties. They help to cleanse the surface of your eye, washing away any irritating particles your eyes may have come into contact with. This helps to relieve irritation and itching causes by pollen, pet fair, or dust mites, leaving your eyes feeling soothed and refreshed.

Who are these eye drops suitable for?

Optrex Soothing Eye Drops are suitable for adults and adolescents over the age of 12 who are suffering from itchy eyes caused by hay fever or other allergies. If you’re looking for a way to soothe and cleanse your irritated eyes throughout the day, but can’t use medicated eye drops which contain sodium cromoglicate, these eye drops could be a suitable alternative for you.

Can I use these eye drops if I’m wearing contact lenses?

Optrex Soothing Eye Drops are not suitable for use with contact lenses. If you’re suffering with itchy eyes caused by hay fever or allergy symptoms, ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend eye drops which can be used alongside your contacts to ease your symptoms.

How to use these eye drops to relieve itching caused by hay fever or allergies

Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before using these eye drops. Tilt your head backwards and gently pull down your lower eyelid with one hand. Use the other hand to gently squeeze the bottle of Optrex Soothing Eye Drops and deposit 2 - 4 drops into your eye. Repeat the process in your other eye. Do this as often as needed to refresh your itchy, irritated eyes.

When should Optrex Soothing Eye Drops not be used?

Do not use Optrex Soothing Eye Drops if you are allergic to witch hazel or any of the other listed ingredients. These eye drops are not suitable for use in children under the age of 12.
