What are Otex Eardrops?

Otex Eardrops help to remove earwax build up, relieving blocked ears. Ideal for those suffering with blocked ears caused by hard or dry earwax, Otex Eardrops can help to soften the earwax, encouraging it to leave the ear on its own.

Why are my ears blocked with earwax?

Earwax may build up in your ears, causing blockage in your ear canal for many reasons. Some of the most common causes of earwax build up include:

  • Your ears naturally produce a lot of earwax.
  • Your age – earwax can naturally become dry and hard with age.
  • Your ear canals are narrow.
  • Your ear canals have a lot of hair growing in them.
  • You use an in ear device, such as earplugs or a hearing aid, which pushes earwax back into your ears.

How will these eardrops help to unblock my ears?

Otex Eardrops use the active ingredient urea hydrogen peroxide, which helps to soften earwax and relieve blockage. It does this by breaking down your hardened earwax into smaller chunks, helping it to soften and leave the ear naturally. This can mean that you will not need to have your ears syringed by a doctor or nurse.

How to use Otex Eardrops.

Before using Otex Eardrops, remove the cap to reveal the applicator nozzle. Tilt your head so that the ear you wish to treat is facing up and gently squeeze up to 5 Otex Eardrops into your ear. Make sure that you do not touch your ear with the applicator nozzle. Keep your head tilted for a few minutes so that the drops will stay in the ear. Wipe away excess drops from outside of the ear with clean tissue or cotton wool. Repeat with other ear if necessary. After using your eardrops, clean the applicator nozzle with clean cotton wool and finally wash your hands.

Why do I need to answer questions to but this product?

You do not need a prescription for Otex Eardrops, however you will be asked to complete a short medical questionnaire by your Chemist-4-U pharmacist before we can take your order. This includes some simple questions that all pharmacies legally are required to ask before supplying this kind of product. This helps our pharmacy team to be sure that this product is the best choice for you.

When should Otex Eardrops not be used?

Do not use Otex Eardrops if you are allergic to urea hydrogen peroxide or any of the other listed ingredients. Avoid getting eardrops into your eye, if you do accidentally get drops into eye, rinse with clean water right away. Do not use Otex Eardrops if:

  • You have a history of ear problems.
  • You are using other in ear devices, such as a hearing aid.
  • You are using other eardrops.
  • You suffer from dizziness.
  • Your eardrum is damaged or has been damaged.
  • You have tried to remove earwax with your fingernails or a cotton bud – this can damage the lining of your ear canal.
  • You have had your ear syringed within the past 2 – 3 days.
  • There is anything else wrong with your ear, such as ear infection, tinnitus, pain, swelling, discharge, etc.
