What is Numark Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray?

Numark Nasal Spray is a form of treatment that is designed to provide relief for symptoms associated with hay fever. The active ingredient in this nasal spray is beclometasone dipropionate which is known as a corticosteroid. A corticosteroid works by reducing inflammation in the nose that is caused by the allergy.

How does hayfever cause the symptoms in the nose?

Symptoms caused by hayfever are the result of the allergy by the body. When the body comes into contact with a substance it thinks is potentially harmful. This causes the release of chemicals that will combat the substances the body thinks are a threat. The result is histamines, which cause the symptoms that you associate with an allergy. The symptoms occur in the nose because pollen can be breathed in and histamine will enlarge the blood vessels which is caused by inflammation.

Who is this nasal spray suitable for?

This nasal spray should only be used by adults aged 18 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients that are contained in the nasal spray. Anyone who any of the following applies to should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using:

  • Have kidney problems
  • Ever suffered from glaucoma
  • Have a nose infection
  • Recently had surgery on the nose

If you are using any other form of medication, then it is recommended that you speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this nasal spray?

Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a medical professional for advice before using any form of medication.

How should Numark Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray be used?

Before using the spray, shake the bottle gently. Prime the spray by spraying 5 times before spraying into the nostril. To use, blow the nose and then close one nostril and place the nozzle of the spray into the other. Tilt the spread slightly and have the nozzle be upright when spraying. Once you have sprayed into the nostril, repeat the process for the other nostril. Wash the nozzle with warm water after using. The recommended dosage is 2 sprays into each nostril twice a day, which should not be exceeded. If the symptoms have not improved after using for 14 days, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice.

Are there any side effects?

Since it is a medicine, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects when using this spray include:

  • Swelling in the face, lips, throat, or mouth
  • A rash
  • Shortness of breath
  • Feeling faint
  • Dryness
