What is Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream?

Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream is a topical anaesthetic used to numb areas on the skin before injections or minor skin procedures. Suitable for both adults and children, this cream is the ideal solution to reduce pain before injections, tattoos, and minor surgical procedures like the removal of warts.

What is the recommended dosage?

Always use Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. This cream is for external use only. Remove the outer packaging and squeeze the tube slowly to release the desired amount of product. Apply the cream to the chosen area of skin. Do not rub in. After applying the cream, you’ll need to cover the area in a dressing or a plastic wrap. This dressing should be removed either by yourself or a medical professional just before your procedure starts.

When would I need to use numbing cream?

There are many reasons why you may want to use a numbing cream. Some of the most common reasons include:

  • Getting an injection

  • Donating blood

  • Minor skin operations

  • Removal of warts

  • Cleansing or removal of leg ulcers

  • Having a cannula inserted

How does Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream numb the skin?

This numbing cream contains two anaesthetics, lidocaine and prilocaine, that work to numb the surface of the skin. When this happens you won’t be able to feel pain, but you may still be able to feel pressure and touch. You’ll typically apply this cream an hour before your procedure (although this can differ depending on your age or condition) and leave it in place, giving it enough time to get to work and numb your skin before you wipe it away.

How long does this anaesthetic last?

When you’ve applied the numbing cream your skin will remain numb for around 2 hours. This should be more than enough time to carry out minor procedures or an injection.

Can I use Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream when I’m getting a tattoo?

Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream is a numbing agent that’s typically used to numb pain before minor procedures, however, you can also use it to numb your skin before getting a tattoo. We’d recommend asking your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist beforehand to ensure that it’s the right option for you. You should also let your tattoo artist know that you’re planning on using a numbing cream so they can make any adjustments they may need to make sure your tattoo is perfect.

Is Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream suitable for children?

Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream should not be used on infants who were born before 37 weeks. Do not use this product on the genitals of children under the age of 12, or on children under the age of 12 who are taking medication that can affect blood pigment levels.

Is Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream.

When should this product not be used?

Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this cream if you are allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine or any of the other listed ingredients. Do not apply this cream:

  • On cuts, grazes or wounds

Are there any side effects?

Like all products, Nulbia Lidocaine 2.5% / Prilocaine 2.5% Cream may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
