What is Lemsip Cough for Mucus Cough and Catarrh?

Lemsip Cough for Mucus Cough and Catarrh is a cough medicine that helps to ease that irritating mucus cough. It’s ideal for phlegmy coughs, making your cough feel more productive and helping to protect your sensitive throat from throat infections. If you have a mucus cough and catarrh that’s caused by a cold, the flu, or a minor throat infection, Lemsip Cough can help you to shift that cough at last.

What is a mucus cough?

A mucus cough is a chesty cough where you bring up mucus, also known as catarrh or phlegm. Mucus coughs can be caused by colds, the flu, throat infections, and chest infections, and although they can be really irritating for you and those around you, they will usually get better within a week to 10 days.

How will Lemsip Cough syrup help to ease my mucus cough and catarrh?

Lemsip Cough syrup contains two active ingredients which work together to ease a mucus cough and catarrh. The first ingredient is guaifenesin, which works as an expectorant, helping to loosen the catarrh so it’s easier for you to cough it up, making it easier for you to breathe. The second ingredient is cetylpyridinium chloride, an antiseptic which helps to fight against throat infections, keeping your throat from becoming more irritated.

Can I take this cough medicine if I’m pregnant?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product. Lemsip Cough medicine contains 0.364mg of alcohol in every 5ml dose. This is the same as drinking 9ml of beer or 3.75ml of wine.

Can I take this product if I’m taking other medication?

If you’re taking any other medication, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Lemsip Cough medicine. Do not take this product at the same time as any other cough or cold medication.
