What is Enterosgel Kids?

Enterosgel is used to treat acute diarrhoea in both children and adults, and it’s 100% vegan and free from gluten, sugar and lactose. It works by binding toxic and harmful substances in the gut and bringing them to the surface, and it’s clinically proven to reduce the frequency and duration of diarrhoea. It can be used to treat both acute diarrhoea and chronic IBS diarrhoea.

How to use this product

Always take Enterosgel Kids exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. For children aged between 1-6, add 5g (approximately 1 teaspoon) diluted in 50-100ml of water three times a day. For children aged between 7-14, add 10g (approximately 2 teaspoons) diluted in 50-100ml of water 3 times a day. For children aged 15+ and adults, add 15g to 22.5g (approximately 1 tablespoon) diluted in 200ml of water, 3 times a day.

What is IBS?

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a condition that affects the digestive system, and it is quite common. You may experience symptoms varying from stomach cramps, bloating, gas, diarrhoea and constipation. Your symptoms may come and go, last for a period of time, or you may find that certain things trigger a flare-up.

What causes IBS?

The exact cause of IBS isn’t yet known, but there are some factors that are common in people with the condition. If you’ve got an abnormality in your digestive system, it may cause discomfort when releasing gas or stool.

Your brain won’t send the accurate signals to your intestines that can result in your body overreacting to the digestive process, causing discomfort, constipation and diarrhoea. You’re more prone to developing IBS if you’ve had a serious bout of diarrhoea caused by an infection, or if you’ve got a lot of bacteria harbouring in the intestines.

Stressful situations can also be a trigger for IBS in certain people, especially if it occurred during childhood.

Is Enterosgel Kids suitable for children?

Enterosgel Kids is suitable for children aged 1 years and over. However, for children aged between 1-3 years of age, it’s recommended that you speak to a doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before use.

Is Enterosgel Kids suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

Enterosgel Kids is suitable to be taken if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.

When should this product not be used?

Enterosgel Kids may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have intestinal atony (severe constipation due to bowel obstruction), intestinal blockage, or if you are currently using modified-release orally administered medications.

Are there any side effects?

Like all medicines, Enterosgel Kids may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. Known side effects include constipation and nausea.

For more information on potential side effects, refer to the patient information leaflet. If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
