What is Enterosgel Absorbent Gel?

Enterosgel is an intestinal absorbant (also known as an enterosorbent) and is used to treat diarrhoea and to relieve symptoms of indigestion. It works by binding toxins, viruses, allergens, pathogens and other harmful substances in the gastrointestinal tract before removing them from the body. This product does not remove water or vitamins and is completely flushed from the body within 12-24 hours.

What causes diarrhoea?

Diarrhoea occurs when you pass looser or more frequent stools than normal. It is a common problem that affects most people from time to time and can be unpleasant until it passes, which can take a few days to a week.

The most common cause of diarrhoea is a bowel infection called gastroenteritis, which can be caused by:

  • A virus – such as a norovirus or rotavirus
  • Bacteria – such as campylobacter and E. coli
  • A Parasite – such as the parasite that causes giardiasis which is spread via contaminated water

Diarrhoea can also be caused by anxiety, a food allergy, medication or a long-term condition such as IBS.

What causes indigestion?

Indigestion is a common problem that most people can experience. It usually causes the following symptoms:

  • Heartburn – a painful burning feeling in the chest, often after eating
  • Feeling full and bloated
  • Feeling sick
  • Belching and farting
  • Bringing up food or bitter tasting fluids

There are various causes for indigestion including:

  • Medicines
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol

How does Enterosgel work?

Enterosgel is an oral intestinal absorbent that is made from organic materials and water that can be used by both adults and children. It helps by removing toxins and harmful substances from the body by binding them to allow the body to excrete them. It helps to stop diarrhoea or shorten the duration of diarrhoea and can help prevent toxic and allergic reactions, as well as relieve symptoms of indigestion.

How to take Enterosgel Gel

Dilute the recommended dose in 100ml of water and drink 1-2 hours before or after a meal or taking medications.

Children 1-6 years old : 1 teaspoon diluted in 50-100ml of water 3 times a day

For children 7-14 years old: old 2 teaspoons diluted in 50-100ml of water 3 times a day

For children 15+ and adults: 1 – 1.5 table spoon diluted in 200ml of water 3 times a day

It is important to take plenty of fluids during treatment of diarrhoea. During treatment of chronic IBS diarrhoea stop taking Enterosgel, if you do not have a bowel movement for 1-2 days, increase water intake and continue the treatment after the next bowel movement.
