Why is safe sex important?

Practising safe sex is important in order to avoid unwanted pregnancy and contracting sexually transmitted diseases. One of the easiest ways to protect against sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy is to use condoms. Ensuring that you are practising safe sex can protect the health of both you and your sexual partner. Safe sex begins with consent. Ensure both yourself and your partner is willing to have sex. Use a condom to dramatically decrease the chance of becoming pregnant or catching a sexually transmitted disease. Always change the condom when swapping from one form of sex to another. Use only water-based lubricants to prevent the condom from becoming damaged.

How can condoms help to protect against pregnancy and STIs?

Condoms are known as a ‘barrier’ method of contraception as they prevent semen from entering the body during vaginal, anal and oral sex. If you feel that condoms interrupt sex, make the application of the condom part of foreplay to make it a more enjoyable experience. Safe sex is still enjoyable sex and you can have peace of mind knowing you and your partner are protected.

How can Durex Thin Feel help to improve your sexual experience?

A thinner condom can help to increase intimacy during sex by helping you to feel closer to your partner. The condoms are designed to be thinner whilst still having the reliability of any other Durex condom. Each condom can increase sensitivity and are lubricated for a smooth experience. The nominal width of these condoms are 52mm, so they will fit most men, even those with a larger girth. Durex condoms are 100% electronically tested for safety with 5 more quality tests carried out on every batch, to give you peace of mind, as well as an enjoyable experience.

How to use Durex Condoms

Condoms are only effective if they are applied correctly. Before applying any condom, ensure you check the use-by date. If the condom is out of date, do not use it as it will not be as effective. When opening the packet, take care not to rip the condom. This can be achieved by gently pushing the condom to one side of the wrapper and tear from the corner on the opposite side. Avoid handling the condom with sharp nails and jewellery. Check the condom is the correct way round before applying - the teat end should be pointing up. If you have accidentally applied the condom the wrong way round, remove it, dispose of it and use another one. A man’s precum contains semen, so if it comes into contact with a condom before use this can eliminate the effectiveness of the condom. Ensuring the penis is fully erect, pinch the teat between your thumb and finger, to prevent trapped air which can cause the condom to split. Now roll the condom down to the base of the penis whilst smoothing out any air bubbles that may appear around the shaft.

Remember that no contraception can provide 100% protection against pregnancy so it is recommended that you also use some form of birth control, such as the coil or the pill. Always change your condom when you change to another form of sex, e.g. swapping from vaginal sex to anal sex.

When NOT to use this product

Do NOT use this product if you are allergic to latex. Remember that no method of contraception works 100% against pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections, but they can vastly reduce the risk of both.
