What is Dermacool 0.5% Menthol In Aqueous Cream Pump?

Dermacool is a treatment that is designed to provide relief for skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, hives, insect stings and bites, as well as sunburn. Unlike the other Dermacool treatments, this cream contains less of the active ingredient menthol so that it is suitable for children. Menthol works in this cream by triggered the cold receptors on the skin when applied. This helps to cool it down. This cream will also hydrate the skin, helping to restore the skin’s natural protective barrier and reduce moisture loss.

What is the cause of dry skin?

Dry skin is the result of moisture loss in the skin. This is caused by the skin’s natural barrier becoming damaged, which allows moisture to escape the skin. This results in dry skin appearing which could become infected if not treated. There are a number of different triggers that can cause dry skin. These can either be external or internal. External causes of a damaged skin barrier include:

  • Hot or cold weather
  • UV sunlight
  • Chlorine in swimming pools
  • Frequent washing
  • Soaps and detergents
  • Certain medications

Internal causes of dry skin can include:

  • Hormonal changes
  • Ageing
  • Diet
  • Genetics

Not all changes can be controlled so ensuring that you have the right treatment is important.

Who is this Dermacool cream suitable for?

This cream can be used on children aged 12 and under. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the cream. Do not use if the skin is sensitive or delicate, or on broken skin. If you are using any other form of treatment, it is recommended that you speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

How should Dermacool 0.5% Menthol In Aqueous Cream Pump be used?
