What are Colief Infant Drops?

Colief Infant Drops are soothing drops which make your baby’s milk easier to digest, easing temporary lactose intolerance in young babies who have colic. They can be used from birth, added to their milk every time they eat, making digestion easier and easing discomfort caused by indigestion. This may help to reduce colic, and studies have shown that the hours of crying may be greatly reduced in babies who have been given Colief.

What is colic?

Colic is a common condition that babies can suffer with, and it means that they cry a lot without their being an obvious cause. The cause of colic is currently unknown, but some believe that it could be caused by indigestion. For example, some babies may not be able to fully digest the lactose in their milk for a few months after they’re born, and this temporary lactose intolerance could cause indigestion and make them feel uncomfortable. As babies get older, their digestive system develops and they’re able to break down lactose more easily, and this could mean that baby’s colic will ease.

How will Colief Infant Drops help to ease my baby’s colic?

Colief Infant Drops contain lactase enzyme as their active ingredient. Lactase is naturally produced by our bodies to break down lactose so it can be absorbed properly. This means that Colief drops begin to break down the lactose in their milk before they drink it, helping your baby to digest their feeds. This could relieve their indigestion, which may them feel more comfortable and may ease colic as a result.

You should add Colief Infant Drops into every feed until your baby is around 3 – 4 months old. At this point, you can begin to wean your baby off this product. You can do this by halving the amount of drops added to each feed, then using only at alternate feedings, and finally reducing the dose to once a day.

How to use this product with infant formula

Prepare their formula as recommended by the manufacturer and then add 4 drops of Colief into the warm (not hot) formula. Wait for 30 minutes, shaking the formula occasionally, and then check that the bottle is the correct feeding temperature. If it is, feed it to your baby as usual and then discard any unused feed. You can also follow these instructions if you’re using ready-to-feed formula, just add the 4 drops of Colief to warm formula and continue to follow the rest of the instructions.

Can I use Colief Infant Drops if I’m breastfeeding?

Colief Infant Drops can be used if you’re breastfeeding, and you’ll need to give the drops to your baby before each feed. Begin by expressing a few tablespoons of breastmilk into a sterilised container and then add 4 drops of Colief to the milk. Feed this mixture to your baby with a sterilised spoon, and then continue breastfeeding right away.

What if I need to make my baby’s feed in advance?
