How we are regulated

Vitamin

Vitamin D is an important mineral as it helps to regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate within your body which is vital for healthy bones, teeth and muscles. Our body naturally transforms cholesterol into vitamin D when our skin is exposed to sunlight and we can also gain small amounts of the nutrient in foods such as oily fish, red meat, egg yolks and fortified cereals. However, it can be difficult for some people to receive sufficient amounts of vitamin D, due to being house-bound, ill health or living in parts of the world that do not receive a lot of sunlight.

If your body is lacking vitamin D, this is known as a vitamin D deficiency. Symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency include feeling run-down or often falling ill, fatigue, weak muscles and feeling achy.

Remember, your final treatment will be decided by our prescribers based on your answers provided within your consultation. You will be asked to indicate a preferred treatment option from a selected list after completion of your consult.

What Vitamin D treatment can do

If your deficiency is severe, you may be prescribed supplements that contain a high dose of vitamin D.

This type of treatment works by giving your body a lot of vitamin D over a few days to a few weeks so it can absorb all it needs, giving it a chance to make up for the vitamins it's missed.

You may also be recommended calcium supplements, as vitamin D plays an important part in making sure that your body absorbs the right amount of calcium, and as the level of vitamin D in your body increases it will be easier for your body to get the calcium it needs.

Fill out our quick questionnaire and our Prescriber will determine which vitamin D supplement is best for you and how long you should take it for.

Your supplements will then be fulfilled by our pharmacy team and sent directly to you in discreet packaging.
