This chemical in the human body can cause various allergic symptoms such as skin rashes, watery eyes sneezing and blocked nose. It is advisable to swallow these tablets with water.

How should Cetirizine Tablets be used?

Always take Cetirizine 10mg tablets exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor if you are not sure. Tablets need to be swallowed with a glass of liquid.

When should Cetirizine Tablets be used?

This medicine should be used when you need to relieve the symptoms of Hayfever (e.g. sneezing, runny and itchy nose and eye irritation) and other allergies such as pet and dust allergies. It can also be used to treat raised, red itchy skin (symptoms of urticaria, which is often known as hives or nettle rash). Always handle the tablets carefully with dry hands only. Check the foil is not broken before use.

When should Cetirizine Tablets not be used?

Do not take Cetirizine if you have severe kidney disease, if you are known to be allergic to the active substance of Cetirizine or any of the other ingredients in the patient information leaflet.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. Cetirizine 10mg tablets should be avoided in pregnant women. Accidental use of the drug by a pregnant woman should not produce any harmful effects on the foetus. Nevertheless, the medicine should only be administered if necessary and after medical advice. Cetirizine passes into breast milk. Therefore, you should not take Cetirizine during breastfeeding unless you have contacted your doctor.

Most people will not have problems, but some may get some. If you get any of these serious side effects, stop taking the tablets. See a doctor at once: Difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face, neck, tongue or throat (severe allergic reactions) These other effects are less serious. If they bother you talk to a pharmacist: other allergic reactions such as skin rash feeling drowsy, dizzy or exhausted, headaches, difficulty sleeping, feeling sick, dry mouth, stomach pain, increased appetite fast or irregular heart rate, palpitations, hair loss, changes in the way your liver works – this may show up in a blood test. For children of 2 to 11 years of age headaches, feeling exhausted or nervous were more common. You are only able to purchase one of these products at a time, adding two to the basket will cause a problem at checkout.

Always read the information leaflet before use.
