Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of protein?

Protein is a macronutrient found in every cell of the body and we need a daily intake to maintain good health. Protein has lots of health benefits including building muscle mass and strength, helping you to maintain a healthy weight, maintaining healthy bones and preventing conditions such as osteoporosis. It helps to boost metabolism, curb unhealthy snacking and even helps your body repair itself after injury.

How much protein do I need per day?

Your daily intake of protein depends on your weight or muscle mass, age, your activity level, and your overall health, so recommendations on how much protein you need per day do vary. Generally, you should aim for around 0.8 grams (no more than 2 grams) of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. If you eat foods such as meat, eggs, and dairy products daily, you will be getting enough protein.

Can I get halal protein powder?

As whey is created when you make cheese, it’s dependent on if the cultures used to make the cheese are sourced from milk or meat.

If both of these ingredients are made from halal milk cultures, then your protein powder is suitable for you.

Always check the label on the back of your protein powder to find where the whey is sourced.

Do protein shakes work?

When used alongside regular exercise, protein shakes can help you either lose weight or gain weight and muscle mass.

Protein shakes are a quick and easy way to give you a high dose of protein before or after a workout. They shouldn’t replace your meals as you’ll risk becoming deficient in other nutrients, but when used alongside a balanced diet and exercise you will see the benefits.
