What is Verrugon Complete?
Verrugon Complete is a powerful form of treatment for the removal of verrucas. The active ingredient is salicylic acid which works to break down the infection and prevent it from spreading. This ointment will work to remove a verruca and leave the skin looking and feeling healthy again. This pack contains:
- Ointment
- Emery board
- 9 plasters
- 9 corn rings
What is a verruca?
A verruca is a virus under the skin. It is most common in children aged from 3 until adulthood. A verruca will appear on the bottom of the foot where pressure will be placed and as a result, are painful when walking. A white ring will surround the verruca, with a softer centre. Small black spots can be seen in a verruca when looking at it closely. These spots are caused by internal bleeding in the verruca.
Who is Verrugon suitable for?
Verrugon is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 6 and over. Do not use Verrugon Complete if you:
- Are diabetic
- Suffer from circulatory problems
Also, do not use on:
- Moles
- Irritated skin
- Birthmarks
- Hairy warts
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients used in Verrugon, then do not use Verrugon. The ingredients contained in the treatment are:
- Salicylic acid 50% w/w
- White soft paraffin BP
- Glycerin BP
- Liquid paraffin BP
- Lanesta S (wool fat)
Can Verrugon Complete be used if pregnant or breastfeeding?
There are no known problems when used by someone who is either pregnant or breastfeeding. However, it is recommended that you contact your doctor before using.
How should Verrugon Complete Verrucae Treatment be used?
Follow the required steps to use Verrugon effectively:
- Apply the self-adhesive ring with the hole in over the verruca
- Squeeze some Verrugon ointment into the hole and on the verruca.
- Cover the ring with a plaster to seal it in position
- Wash your hands after use
- Reapply the ointment daily
Please note, the treatment can take up to 12 weeks to work.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are rare but may occur, particularly if allergic to any of the ingredients. You may also experience irritated skin if you get some of the solution on normal skin. If you experience this irritation, stop using Verrugon for a short period and when resuming use, ensure that only the verruca is covered with the treatment. The wool fat in the treatment may cause a skin reaction, such as contact dermatitis. If you notice any side effect, contact a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can record any side effect using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Do I need a prescription to buy?
You do not need a prescription for Verrugon Complete, however, you will be asked to complete a short medical questionnaire by your Chemist 4 U pharmacist before we can take your order. This includes some simple questions that all pharmacies legally are required to ask before supplying this kind of product. This helps our pharmacy team to be sure that Verrugon is the best choice for you.
