What is Beclometasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal Spray?

Beclometasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal Spray is a treatment designed to help adults manage their hay fever symptoms by easing inflammation in your nose to make breathing easier, in addition to aiding sneezing and itching. If you’re looking for a quick and effective way to relieve your hay fever symptoms and to protect your nose during pollen season, choosing Beclometasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal Spray could be the ideal solution for you.

How to use this product

Always use Beclomethasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal Spray exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. In order for the nasal spray to work, it should be used regularly. Typically, you’ll use the spray twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, with the usual dose being 1 or 2 sprays into each nostril. Do not use more than 4 sprays per nostril in 24 hours.

To use, remove the cap and gently shake the bottle. Blow your nose and then close 1 nostril by pressing your finger against the side of your nose. Bending your head forward slightly, carefully put the nozzle into your other nostril and slowly breathe in through your nose and with your fingers press down on the widest part of the nozzle to squirt the spray once into your nostril. Breathe through your mouth. Follow the instructions for the other nostril if needed. After use, wipe the nozzle with a piece of clean tissue and replace the cap.

How does beclomethasone relieve hay fever symptoms?

Beclometasone is a type of medication known as a corticosteroid or steroid. This means that it works to ease hay fever symptoms by reducing inflammation in your nasal passages, in addition to preventing itching and sneezing. It also helps to clear a blocked nose by reducing swollen blood vessels, giving you room to breathe and easing a runny nose at the same time.

What is hay fever?

Hay fever refers to an allergy to pollen - in fact, it’s one of the most common allergies in the UK. Pollen particles swarm the air all year round, but it typically worsens when it’s warm, humid and windy between the months of March and September.

It presents symptoms similar to the common cold, however, hay fever can last for weeks and months at a time. You may experience the following symptoms:

  • Sneezing

  • Coughing

  • A runny or blocked nose

  • Red, watery eyes

  • An itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears

  • Loss of smell

  • Pain in your forehead and temples

  • Headache

  • Earache

  • Fatigue

Just like there’s no cure for an allergy, there unfortunatley isn’t a cure for hay fever, either, but the symptoms can be managed with antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops.

Is Beclometasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal Spray suitable for children?

Beclometasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal is suitable for children aged 6 years and over. If you’re looking for a nasal spray to relieve hay fever symptoms in a child under the age of 6, speak to your GP or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice on alternative treatment options.

Is Beclometasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal Spray suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.

When should this product not be used?

Beclometasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal Spray may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have any of the following:

  • Are taking or have recently taken other corticosteroid medicines

Are there any side effects?

Like all medicines, Beclometasone Hay Fever Relief Nasal Spray may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody.
