What are GoldenEye Eye Drops?

Goldeneye Eye Drops are a treatment for mild eye infections, such as conjunctivitis or blepharitis. Use these eye drops up to 4 times a day for a fast-acting treatment which will help to clear up your infection and irritation, so you can get back to normal.

What is conjunctivitis?

Conjunctivitis, which is also known as pink eye or red eye, is a common eye condition which can be caused by an infection or by allergies. When you have conjunctivitis, you may notice the following symptoms in one or both of your eyes:

  • Bloodshot
  • Burning or gritty feeling eyes
  • Pus which sticks to your eyelashes
  • Itching
  • Watery eyes

How will Goldeneye Eye Drops treat my eye infection?

Goldeneye Eye Drops contain the active ingredient propamidine isethionate, which is an antiseptic. Antiseptics treat infections by killing bacteria which can cause infection in the first place, giving your eye the chance to fight off infection and heal.

Can I use these eye drops if I wear contact lenses?

You should not wear contact lenses while you are using GoldenEye eye drops. If you wear hard contact lenses, you can start wearing them again after you’ve finished using these drops. If you wear soft contact lenses, then you should be aware that the benzalkonium chloride in these eye drops can discolour soft contact lenses. Wait for at least 24 hours after you finish using these drops before using your soft contact lenses again.

Can I drive after using these eye drops?

When you’ve used these eye drops, you may experience blurred vision for a short while. Do not attempt to drive or use tools or machinery unless you are sure that you are not affected in this way.

Can I use this product if I’m using another medication?

If you’re using any other medication, including those bought without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using Goldeneye Eye Drops. This especially applies to other eye drops or eye ointments.

Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

You should not use this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor right away.

How to use these eye drops

Before using this product, wash your hands thoroughly. Remove the bottle cap and tilt your head gently backwards. Apply 1 – 2 drops into each affected eye, taking care not to touch the eye with the bottle dropper. Do this up to 4 times a day, leaving around 3 – 4 hours between each application. If your condition does not improve after 2 days, stop use and speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist right away.

When should this product not be used?

Do not use Goldeneye Eye Drops if you are allergic to propamidine isethionate or any of the other listed ingredients. Do not use this product if:

  • You have a painful eye, rather than an eye which just feels sore or gritty
  • You have pain or swelling around your eye or face
  • It is too painful for you to open your eyes properly
  • You have “dry eye syndrome”
  • Your pupil looks different, e.g. torn, not round, very big, does not change size in the light
  • Your eye looks cloudy
  • You have injured your eye
  • You are using any other eye drops or ointment
  • You think there may be something in your eye or you have splashed something in your eye
  • You have had laser eye surgery or laser treatment in the last 6 months

Does this product have any side effects?

Like all medications, Goldeneye Eye Drops can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. These include:

  • Mild reactions around the eye, e.g. stinging or burning, irritation or itching, inflammation of the skin, skin rash
  • Disturbed vision or your condition becomes worse

If you experience these or any other side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist right away. For more information about reporting the side effects of medication, please see the MHRA’s Yellow Card Scheme.

Having struggled with swollen, red, irritated eyes for 18 months, I found this online and thought I would give it a try. A doctor, optician and consultant had assesed my condition. What did I have to lose. Tried numerous other products with no relief. This, in conjunction with the ointment at night, has helped tremendously. Thank goodness. I would recommend and will be buying again if needed.
