What are Gaviscon Advance Chewable Mint Tablets?

Gaviscon Advance Chewable Mint Tablets are a treatment designed to ease indigestion and heartburn. Just chew one or two tablets and swallow them for fast indigestion and heartburn relief on the go, without needing to measure out liquids or swallow with a drink.

What is indigestion?

Indigestion is a common problem that most people deal with at some point. It happens after you eat or drink, as excess stomach acid causes irritation to your stomach lining and food pipe. This causes unpleasant and potentially embarrassing symptoms, including:

  • Heartburn or acid reflux
  • Feeling full
  • Bloating
  • Burping or farting (wind)
  • Feeling sick or being sick

How will Gaviscon Advance Chewable Tablets relieve my indigestion?

Gaviscon Advance Chewable Tablets contain two active ingredients which can both help to ease indigestion and heartburn: sodium alginate 500mg and potassium bicarbonate 100mg. These ingredients form a type of treatment called reflux suppressants, which means that they work by forming a protective layer over your stomach contents. This layer keeps excess stomach acid from irritating your food pipe and stomach lining.

Can I take these tablets if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Gaviscon Advance Tablets are suitable for use when you’re pregnant or if you’re breastfeeding. However, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this or any other medication at these times. The amount of time you take these tablets for should be as limited as possible.
