Benylin Children’s Night Coughs - 125ml - (6 Years +) is a soothing syrup which is designed to relieve your child’s symptoms of a dry, tickly cough.

The syrup also works to help with congestion and can relieve a runny nose and sneezing. 

It is suitable for children aged 6-12 years old. This product is sugar-free.

 

How Benylin Children’s Night Coughs works

Benylin Children’s Night Cough contains two active ingredients: diphenhydramine and levomenthol. The active ingredients work together to help relieve a cough and dry a runny nose.

 

Directions

Always take Benylin Children’s Night Coughs exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.

2 x 5ml spoonfuls should be given every 6 hours. No more than 4 doses should be given in a 24-hour period.

 

Side effects

Like all medicines, Benylin Children’s Night Coughs may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 

 

  • Drowsiness
  • Difficulty performing tasks
  • Headaches
  • Upset stomach 
  • Dry mouth 
  • Blurred vision 
  • Thickened mucus
  • Difficulty passing urine

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 

 

Warnings

Benylin Children’s Night Coughs may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not give this product to your child if they are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

 

  • They suffer from prostate problems
  • They suffer from or have had closed-angle glaucoma  

 

Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before giving this medicine to your child if they: 

 

  • Suffer from liver or kidney problems 
  • Have difficulty passing water 
  • Have asthma 
  • Have an intolerance to some sugars 



Using/taking other medicines

You should talk to your GP or pharmacist if your child is taking or has recently taken any other medication, including medication obtained without a prescription. 

It is important to speak to a healthcare professional if your child is taking the following medication:

 

  • Tricyclic antidepressants to treat mood disorders 
  • Atropine to treat some eye conditions and occasionally bowel conditions 
  • Barbiturates to help with sleeping 
  • Minor tranquillisers used to relax muscles or decrease anxiety

 

Age restrictions 

This product is suitable for children aged 6-12 years old.

 

Storage information

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
