What is Colofac IBS Relief?
Colofac IBS Relief is a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) containing 135mg of mebeverine hydrochloride. As well as IBS, Colofac tablets can treat symptoms of other bowel problems such as chronic irritable colon, spastic constipation, mucous colitis and spastic colitis.
What is the recommended dosage?
Adults aged 18 and over should swallow 1 tablet with water, 3 times per day. Taking the tablet twenty minutes before a meal will make the medicine more effective, particularly if you find your symptoms are strongest after you’ve eaten. If your symptoms improve, speak to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before stopping or lowering the dose of these Colofac IBS Relief tablets.
How does mebeverine hydrochloride treat IBS?
Colofac IBS Relief contains 135mg of the active ingredient mebeverine hydrochloride - this belongs to a group of medicines called antispasmodics. IBS causes painful spasms in the gut and intestine, so mebeverine hydrochloride works by relieving this spasm and preventing any pain.
What is IBS?
IBS is a very common, long-term condition that affects the digestive system, causing pain and uncomfortable spasms in your gut or intestine. IBS can affect anyone, but more commonly affects women, those under 50, or those with a family history of the condition. Symptoms of IBS can include:

Constipation
The exact cause of IBS is currently unknown, but some people find that their IBS can be triggered by certain food or stress. IBS symptoms can be improved with lifestyle changes, but some people with severe, chronic symptoms may need long-term treatment and medication.
Is Colofac IBS Relief suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
You should speak to a doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking Colofac IBS Relief tablets if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are trying to become pregnant. Colofac tablets should not be used if you are breastfeeding.
Are Colofac tablets suitable for children?
No, Colofac tablets are not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. If you think your child may be suffering with IBS, contact your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for expert advice.
When should this medicine not be used?
Colofac tablets are safe for most adults. You should not, however, take Colofac IBS relief if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Before taking these tablets, speak to your doctor or a Chemist4U pharmacist if:

Are there any side effects?
As with all medicines, Colofac tablets may cause unwanted side effects, but most people should not experience any problems.

You may be experiencing a severe allergic reaction if you have difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, neck, tongue or throat. In this case, seek medical attention straight away.

Storage information
Store in a cool, dry area below 30°C. Keep this medicine in its original box and do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated. Keep out of reach and sight of children.
