What are Zantac 75 Relief Tablets?

Zantac 75 Relief is a treatment for the effects of indigestion and heartburn. These tablets work thanks to the active ingredient that is contained in them. The active ingredient in these tablets is ranitidine, which is what is called an H2-Blocker, which works to reduce the amount of stomach acid that is produced. Excess stomach acid can go up into the chest and throat and cause the irritation associated with indigestion and heartburn.

 

What causes indigestion?

Indigestion is a condition that can affect anyone. It is caused when excess stomach acid that causes irritation at the lining of the stomach, leading the pain and discomfort. This stomach acid also gets up into the chest and throat, causing other symptoms associated with indigestion, including heartburn. Other symptoms include feeling full or bloated, feeling sick, and bringing up food and a bitter taste in the mouth.

 

Who are these Zantac tablets suitable for?

These tablets are suitable to be used by adults and children aged 16 and over. They should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the tablets. Anyone for who the following applies to should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using these tablets:

  • Has a difficulty swallowing
  • Have porphyria, a condition that affects the urine
  • Have unintended weight loss
  • Are middle-aged with newly diagnosed indigestion problems

  • Are under regular medical supervision
  • Have had a peptic ulcer
  • Are elderly
  • Have breathing problems
  • Have a weak immune system
  • Suffer from diabetes

How should Zantac 75 Relief Tablets be used?

Swallow a tablet as soon as you feel symptoms of indigestion. Use a glass of water if needed. If symptoms are still a problem after an hour, take another. Do not take more than 2 tablets in a 24-hour period. Do not use these tablets for more than 6 days at a time. If you use and problems still persist, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice.

 

Are there any side effects?

As it is a medicine, there is a chance of side effects when using these tablets. Potential side effects include:

  • Drowsiness
  • A headache
  • Dizziness
  • Stomach pain
  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea

If you notice a side effect, then stop using these tablets and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
