What are Travel Sickness & Nausea 25mg Tablets?

Travel Sickness & Nausea 25mg tablets are a form of treatment that works to reduce the effects of travel and motion sickness. They also help to reduce nausea and vomiting. The active ingredient of these tablets is promethazine teoclate. Promethazine teoclate is an anti-sickness drug that can also be used to treat allergies.

 

What causes travel or motion sickness?

Travel or motion sickness is caused by travelling in a car, boat, or another form of transport and the signals that the brain receives being different from the eyes and ears. Repeated movements are the main cause of this, and the confusion leads to the symptoms associated with the condition.

 

Who are these Travel Sickness & Nausea Tablets suitable for?

These tablets are suitable to be used by adults and children aged 2 and over who are suffering from the effects of travel sickness. They should not be used by anyone who is allergic to any of the ingredients contained in the tablets. They should also not be used if you have CNS (Central Nervous System) depression or if you are using or have used in the last 14 days Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs). Speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using if any of the following apply to you:

  • Have glaucoma
  • Are epileptic
  • Have heart or liver problems
  • Suffer from kidney or bladder problems
  • Are asthmatic
  • Suffer from bronchitis
  • Have severe headaches with blurred vision, stomach pains with vomiting, dizziness, struggle to maintain balance, ringing ears, and feeling sick
  • Have a bad cough
  • Suffer from Reye’s Syndrome

You should also speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using if you are currently using any other form of medication.

 

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use these tablets?

Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding should not use these tablets unless they have been advised to do so by a doctor.

 

How should Travel Sickness & Nausea 25mg Tablets be used?

The dosage varies depending on the age of the user. For adults, take a tablet the night before travelling for a long journey, or 2 hours before if on a short journey. If you are feeling sick, use a tablet as soon as possible and another in the evening. Use the same dosage for children aged 10 and over, and half it for children aged 5-10. For children aged 2-5, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice before using.

 

Are there any side effects?

Like with many types of medication, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects when using these tablets include:

  • A rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling in the face
  • Irregular heartbeats
  • A fever
  • Sore throat
  • Bruising
  • Nose bleeds
  • A headache
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Tiredness
  • Upset stomach
  • Cramps

If you notice any side effect, stop using and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Great product, could not find this in any of my local chemists, have used this for some time and is great for nausea connected to travel.
