What are Anusol Soothing and Cleansing Wipes?

Anusol Soothing and Cleansing Wipes are a gentle and caring alternative to toilet paper for cleansing the anal area when suffering from haemorrhoids (piles).

What are Haemorrhoids (piles)?

Haemorrhoids (also known as piles) are enlarged veins in the intrarectal (bottom) area. The general symptoms experienced when suffering from piles include:

  • Blood after you have passed a stool (poo).
  • An itchy anus (bottom).
  • Feeling like you still need to pass a stool after going to the toilet.
  • A discharge of slimy mucus.
  • Lumps and/or pain around the anus area.

There are three main types of haemorrhoids which can cause individual symptoms according to the type of haemorrhoids you are suffering with:

External Haemorrhoids

These develop under the skin around your anus (bottom). Symptoms can include:

  • Itching or irritation in the anal region.
  • Pain and discomfort.
  • Swelling around your anus.
  • Bleeding.

Internal Haemorrhoids

These develop inside the rectum and you can’t usually see or feel them. However, straining or irritation when passing stool can cause:

  • Painless bleeding during bowel movements.
  • A haemorrhoid to push through the anal opening (known as a prolapsed or protruding haemorrhoid), which can result in pain and irritation.

Thrombosed Haemorrhoids

If blood pools in an external haemorrhoid and forms a clot (thrombus), it can result in:

  • Severe pain.
  • Swelling.
  • Inflammation.
  • A hard lump near your anus.

What causes Haemorrhoids?

The main causes for haemorrhoids include:

  • Strain during bowel movements.
  • Sitting on the toilet for long periods of time.
  • Chronic constipation or diarrhoea.
  • Pregnancy.
  • Heavy lifting.

Why is it important to cleanse areas affected by Haemorrhoids?

When suffering from haemorrhoids (piles) it is really important to keep the affected area clean to reduce itchiness and irritation. It’s also important to clean the area regularly to promote healing of haemorrhoids and to help soothe irritation. Anusol Soothing and Cleansing Wipes can help keep the area affected by haemorrhoids hygienic and provide relief from irritation.

Not quite as good as the Preparation H wipes I'm used to. Sadly those are discontinued. Sometimes they tear as I try to remove them from the pack.
