What is Oilatum Cream?

Oilatum Cream is a form of treatment that is designed to treat dry skin and conditions related to it such as eczema. The cream contains the active ingredients light liquid paraffin and white soft paraffin. This cream works by softening and soothing the skin by forming a protective barrier over the skin. It is effective as a form of treatment after washing the skin. This treatment is known as an emollient.

 

What is the cause of eczema?

Eczema is a condition that can be caused by a number of different reasons. These include an allergic reaction as well as coming into contact with different substances. There are different types of eczema that have different symptoms as well as causes. There is no known cure for eczema completely. Using the right treatment can reduce the effects of the condition though.

 

Who is this cream suitable for?

This Oilatum Cream is suitable to be used by adults and children who are suffering from dry skin. It can be used by anyone who is allergic to lanolin. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the cream. Anyone who is currently using any other form of medication should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

 

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this cream?

There are no problems when using this cream when pregnant. Anyone who is breastfeeding should ensure that all of the cream has been washed off before breastfeeding.

 

How should Oilatum Cream be used?

This cream should be used as and when needed. For the best results, use the cream straight after washing the skin. Ensure that the cream is kept out of the eyes. Do not use after the expiry date.

 

Are there any side effects?

Any side effect is most likely to be the result of an allergic reaction. If you notice a side effect, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
