The gum helps with the cravings associated with smoking and nicotine withdrawal symptoms. 

 

How Nicotinell Mint 2mg Medicated Chewing Gum - 96 Pieces work

Nicotinell Mint 2mg Medicated Chewing Gum - 96 Pieces contain nicotine. When chewed, the gum slowly releases nicotine which is absorbed through the lining of the mouth. 

 

Directions

Always use Nicotinell Mint 2mg Medicated Chewing Gum - 96 Pieces exactly as described in the information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 

The method of chewing the gum is not the same as ordinary gum. 

Chew 1 piece of gum until the taste becomes strong. Rest it between your gum and cheek. Once the taste has faded, chew the gum again for around 30 minutes. 

 

Side effects

Like all products, Nicotinell Mint 2mg Medicated Chewing Gum may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include: 

 

  • Dizziness 
  • Headaches
  • Hiccups 
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting 
  • Heartburn 
  • Flatulence 
  • Increased saliva production 
  • Irritation of the mouth and throat 

 

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 

 

Warnings

Nicotinell Mint 2mg Medicated Chewing Gum may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, if you are a non-smoker or if you have never been a regular smoker. 

 

Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before using this product if: 

 

  • You have heart disease (heart attack, worsening chest pain, disorders of the heart rate and/or rhythm)
  • You have uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • You have recently had a stroke
  • You have serious liver or kidney disease
  • You have or have had a stomach ulcer
  • You have persistent indigestion 
  • You have a severe sore throat or inflammation of the mouth
  • You are diabetic
  • You have an overactive thyroid 
  • You have a tumour of the adrenal glands 
  • You are fructose intolerant 
  • You are on a low-sodium diet

 

Using/taking other medicines

If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before using this product.

If you are diabetic, you should monitor your blood sugar levels more often than usual. Your insulin or medication requirements may alter. 

 

Age restrictions 

Children under 12 should not use this product. Children are more susceptible to the effects of nicotine meaning it could increase severe toxicity. This can be fatal.

 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant it is best to give up without the use of nicotine replacement. Stopping completely is the best option.  If you can’t stop smoking completely then nicotine replacement therapy is safer than smoking. You should speak to your GP or pharmacist for advice. 

 

Food and drink

Coffee, juices, acidic and fizzy drinks may reduce the absorption of nicotine. Avoid these drinks 15 minutes before chewing the gum. 

 

Driving and operating machinery 

This product is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery, however, occasionally, this product may cause dizziness. If you are affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so.

 

Storage information

Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging.
