What is Metanium?
Metanium is a nappy rash ointment, perfect for treating nappy rash in children. It protects your baby’s delicate skin, helping to treat and prevent nappy rash. Use Metanium whenever it’s time to change your baby to soothe and protect their skin, keeping them feeling comfortable and happy.
What is nappy rash?
Nappy rash is a skin condition that lots of babies suffer with at one time or another. It makes them feel very uncomfortable and can form a red, patchy rash on their bottom which can feel hot to touch or look sore. You may also notice spots, blisters, or pimples on your baby’s skin if they have a nappy rash. Some of the most common causes of nappy rash include:
- Not changing your baby’s nappy or cleaning the nappy area often enough
- The nappy rubbing against baby’s skin
- Soap, detergent, bubble baths
- Alcohol-based baby wipes
- Your baby’s skin coming into contact with poo or wee for a long period
How will Metanium ointment help to soothe nappy rash?
Metanium nappy rash ointment contains three active ingredients which work together to treat nappy rash. This ointment forms a protective barrier over your baby’s delicate skin, protecting from irritation. It also repels water, preventing damp conditions which can aggravate the nappy rash. The active ingredients in this product are:
- Titanium dioxide
- Titanium peroxide
- Titanium salicylate
Can I use this product if my baby is using another medication?
If your baby is taking any other medication, including those applied to the skin and those obtained without a prescription, be sure to speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product. Some medications may interact when used together, but a medical professional can help you to avoid this.
How to use this product
Before using this product, remove your baby’s nappy and clean and wash the affected area, then dry with a soft, clean towel. Wash your hands and then apply a pea-size amount of ointment over the affected area using your fingertips. Spread the ointment thinly enough that you can still see the texture of the skin beneath. Repeat with every nappy change.
When should this ointment not be used?
Do not use Metanium ointment if your baby is allergic to titanium dioxide, titanium peroxide, titanium salicylate, or any of the other listed ingredients. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes or other sensitive areas. Take care when using this ointment as it may stain any fabrics it comes into contact with.
Does this ointment have any side effects?
Like all medications, Metanium Ointment can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. This can include skin irritation, although this happens very rarely. If you experience any side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist. How to store this product
Store in a cool, dry place which is below 25 degrees C. Do not use if the expiry date printed on carton and tube has passed. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
