What are Maalox Plus Heartburn Relief Tablets?

Maalox Plus Heartburn Relief Tablets help to relieve a variety of digestion problems, including heartburn, trapped wind, bloating, indigestion and heartburn. If you’re looking for quick and long-lasting relief from heartburn and other digestion issues.

What is heartburn?

Heartburn is a symptom of acid reflux, which occurs when acid leaves the stomach and floods the food pipe, which irritates its delicate lining and causes a burning sensation. Heartburn is just one symptom of acid reflux. Other symptoms of acid reflux include:

  • A sore throat
  • Bad breath
  • A bitter or sour taste in the mouth
  • A cough
  • Hiccups
  • A hoarse voice
  • Bloating
  • Nausea

Heartburn is often experienced without any obvious reason but there are some factors that can cause heartburn or make it worse, such as:

  • Certain food and drink – such as coffee, alcohol, chocolate and fatty or spicy foods
  • Being overweight
  • Smoking
  • Pregnancy
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Some medicines such as anti-inflammatory painkillers
  • A hiatus hernia – when part of your stomach moves up into your chest

How to prevent heartburn

There are range of simple lifestyle changes that can be made to help stop or reduce heartburn:

  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals
  • Avoid food or drink that triggers heartburn symptoms
  • Try to lose weight if you’re overweight
  • Don’t eat within 3 or 4 hours before bed
  • Don’t smoke or drink too much alcohol
  • Try practising methods of relaxation

How does Maalox Plus work?

Maalox Plus Tablets are a chewable tablets that provide long-lasting relief and protection from symptoms of heartburn and other digestion issues. It contains 3 active ingredients which work together to ease discomfort of bloating, heartburn and trapped wind@

  • Simeticone (an anti-foaming agent)
  • Dried aluminium hydroxide gel (antacid)
  • Magnesium hydroxide (antacid)

Simeticone relieves bloating by binding small gas bubbles to create one larger gas bubble which makes it easier for the body to pass the gas. The two antacids work together to neutralise stomach acid which helps to relieve the symptoms of indigestion and heartburn.
