What is Freederm Gel?

Freederm Gel is designed to treat acne and spots, leaving your skin looking clear and smooth. If you’re looking for an acne treatment that will help spots to look less red and inflamed without drying out your skin, Freederm Gel can help your skin to look and feel healthier than ever.

What causes acne?

Acne can happen for many reasons, and not necessarily the ones you would think. Although many people believe that a poor diet and bad hygiene can cause acne, that just isn’t true. Some of the most common causes of acne include:

  • Puberty and hormonal changes
  • Pregnancy
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Your period
  • Some medications
  • Some cosmetic products
  • Smoking

How will this product treat my acne?

Freederm Gel contains the active ingredient nicotinamide, which works as an anti-inflammatory. This means that it reduces redness, swelling, and tenderness caused by acne, helping to reduce the appearance of spots and helping your skin to heal.

Can I use this product if I have sensitive skin?

If you have sensitive skin or are unsure how sensitive your skin is, you may want to test Freederm Gel on a small area of skin 24 hours before using it on larger areas. This way you can check whether this product will be right for your skin.

Can I use this gel if I’m taking other medication?

Freederm Gel is not known to interact with any medications, so you shouldn’t have any problems using this at the same time as your other medication. However, if you’re not sure you should always speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using any medications together.

Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

There is no known reason why Freederm gel would not be safe to use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, you should always speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before taking this or any other medication while you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, so you can be sure that the product is safe for you and your baby.

How to use Freederm Gel?

Before using this product, wash the area of skin you wish to treat thoroughly and gently pat dry. Then apply a thin layer of Freederm Gel over the affected area, gently massaging into the skin. For best results, use twice a day for as long as needed. Depending on how severe your acne is, it may take several weeks to see improvement as your skin takes time to repair naturally.

When should Freederm Gel not be used?

Do not use Freederm Gel if you are allergic to nicotinamide or any of the other listed ingredients. This product should only be used on your skin, avoid contact with your eyes, the insides of your nostrils, your lips, or the inside of your mouth. If you have groups of spots that are very inflamed and painful and are causing lots of skin damage, consider speaking to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist to see if an alternative treatment may be more suitable for you.

Does this product have side effects?

Like all medications, Freederm Gel can have side effects, although not everyone will get them. These side effects include:

  • Local skin dryness
  • Skin irritation or peeling
  • Allergic reactions such as itching, redness, swelling, or burning sensations.

If you experience these or any other side effects while using Freederm Gel, speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist straight away. For more information about reporting side effects of this product, please see the MHRA’s Yellow Card Website.
