What is Eucerin Intensive 10% w/w Urea Treatment Cream?

Eucerin Intensive Treatment Cream is a cream is a treatment that will help to provide for skin conditions such as ichthyosis and eczema. The active ingredient of the cream is urea. Urea is a natural ingredient that is found in the body and helps with skin hydrating. A lack of urea can lead to dry skin. In skin treatments, urea works by loosening the dry skin and can reduce itching, as well as the effects of eczema and psoriasis.

 

What is the cause of dry skin?

Dry skin can be caused by a number of different conditions and can affect anyone. Factors that can cause dry skin can either be external or internal in nature. External triggers for dry skin can include:

  • Hot or cold weather
  • UV rays from the sun
  • Washing the skin often
  • Using the wrong skincare products for your skin
  • Some types of medication

Internal factors that can cause dry skin include:

  • A family history of dry skin or a condition, such as eczema
  • Hormone changes
  • Your diet
  • Ageing

Other factors that can contribute to dry skin include not treating it quickly enough, dehydration, and smoking.

 

Who is this Eucerin Cream suitable for?

This cream is suitable to be used for treating dry skin and skin affected by eczema or psoriasis. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the cream. It should also not be used on broken, or inflamed skin, or on large areas of skin if you have kidney problems. If you are using any other form of medication, including skin treatments, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible.

 

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this cream?

There is no evidence of any problems when using this cream. Though if you are unsure, then consult a medical professional for advice.

 

How should Eucerin Intensive 10% w/w Urea Treatment Cream be used?

Only use this cream on the skin. Apply the cream into the skin as thinly as possible to the affected areas of the skin and then rub it in. Do this twice a day. If symptoms still persist when using the cream, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice. Do not use after the expiry date and keep it in a cool place, not above 25°C.

 

Are there any side effects when using this cream?

Skin irritation can occur when using this Eucerin Cream. This is more likely when applied to inflamed or sensitive skin. This will usually only last for a short period. If you notice a side effect, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
