What is Bio-Oil?

Bio-Oil is a skincare oil that has been specially formulated to improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks. This hydrating oil can also help to keep the skin hydrated containing vitamins A and E, which support skin hydration and elasticity. Bio-Oil is also a popular choice for those who have uneven skin tone or ageing skin, as it can help to smooth, tone, and improve the appearance of pigmentation.

 

What are scars?

Scars are marks left behind on your skin after it’s healed from damage, such as a wound or injury. They’re perfectly normal and natural, but some people find that they dislike the appearance of their scars, which can look like a fine line, an overgrowth of tissue, or a sunken hole in the skin. Scars will usually fade by themselves over time, but some people choose to use treatments to make scars less visible.

 

What are stretch marks?

Stretch marks are lines or streaks that happen across your skin when it’s been stretched, for example, during pregnancy, growth spurts during puberty, or by gaining or losing weight quickly. Some of the most common places people get stretch marks include the tummy, legs, upper arms, bottom, and chest. Stretch marks are normal and harmless and, like scars, will fade by themselves over time.

 

How will Bio-Oil help to improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks?

Bio-Oil combines natural plant oils, vitamins, and a unique ingredient called PurCellin oil to help improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Plant oils are traditionally used to enhance the appearance of the skin, while vitamins help to support healthy-looking skin, making this a great skincare combination. PurCellin helps to reduce the consistency of the oil, creating a lighter formula that is quickly absorbed into the skin. This helps the vitamins and plant oils absorb into the skin so they can get to work.

 

Can I use this skincare oil if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Bio-Oil can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding; however, we would recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist before using any new product at these times. Bio-Oil contains vitamin A, which should be taken into consideration if you’re pregnant so you should ask your doctor or pharmacist about this. If you want to use Bio-Oil to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks during pregnancy, you should start applying from the start of your second trimester for best results. If you’re breastfeeding, you should not use Bio-Oil on the breasts or nipples.

 

Can I use this product if I’m taking other medication?

If you’re using any medication, including those obtained without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using Bio-Oil. Some medications can interact with other products, making your medication less effective or causing unwanted effects, but a medical professional can help you to avoid this.

 

How to use this product

Massage Bio-Oil into the skin on your face or body in a smooth, circular motion until it’s fully absorbed. For best results, use this product twice a day for a minimum of 3 months. You can begin to use Bio-Oil on scars as soon as your skin has fully healed but should never apply it to broken skin.

 

When should Bio-Oil not be used?

Bio-Oil is not suitable for use in children under the age of 2. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes or other sensitive areas. Do not apply to broken skin or open wounds. Results may vary from person to person. Although Bio-Oil can reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks, it will not be able to get rid of them entirely.

 

Does Bio-Oil have any side effects?

Bio-Oil is not currently known to have any side effects. If you do experience any side effects, including those caused by an allergic reaction, while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or pharmacist. How to store this product
