What is Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment?

Bepathen Nappy Care Ointment is a form of treatment that reduces the effects of a nappy rash and prevents from the returning. It also cares for the delicate skin of a baby. It works by forming a transparent layer over the skin that prevents the irritants and rubbing that are the causes of a nappy rash from doing so. The ointment contains pro-vitamin B5 which helps the skin to repair its natural protective barrier while keeping it soft.

What causes a nappy rash?

A nappy rash is said to affect about a third of all babies. There are a number of potential causes of a nappy rash, which include:

  • The skin is in contact with urine or faeces for a long period of time
  • The nappy causing rubbing against the skin
  • The nappy area not being clean, or being cleaned enough
  • Some types of soaps or detergents
  • Alcohol-based baby wipes
  • Antibiotics

In most cases, babies who have nappy rash will not feel sore, but it can be in severe instances of a nappy rash.

Who is this ointment suitable for?

This ointment is suitable to be used by babies and infants who may be at risk or have a nappy rash. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients that are contained in the ointment.

How should Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment be used?

To use this ointment, apply a small amount to clean, dry skin after each nappy change. The squeezy tube makes it easier to apply with one hand, making it easy to change the nappy.

Are there any side effects?

Any side effect of using this ointment is most likely to be caused by an allergic reaction. If you notice a side effect, stop using and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
