What are Beechams Ultra All In One Hot Lemon Menthol Sachets?

These Beechams sachets are a form of treatment that works to relieve symptoms associated with a cold or flu. Each sachet contains three active ingredients that work in different ways. These are:

  • Paracetamol
  • Phenylephrine
  • Guaifenesin

Paracetamol is a painkiller that helps to relieve headaches, and other aches and pains. It can also reduce a fever. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that helps to unblock the nose and sinuses, helping you to breathe better. Guaifenesin is an expectorant. This releases mucus and phlegm that is blocking the airways. Guaifenesin is also found in numerous types of mucus cough medicine.

What’s the difference between a cold and the flu?

Both a cold and flu are caused by a virus. There are more types of cold virus, of which there are many, and the flu, which there are significantly fewer of. A cold is generally milder than flu but the symptoms are similar. A cold will also appear more gradually instead of the flu which comes within a few hours. Cold symptoms generally only affect your nose and throat and you can do things you normally would without being infected. Whereas with the flu you will feel tired and feel too ill to do anything.

Who are these sachets suitable for?

These sachets are suitable for anyone aged 16 and over who are looking for treatment for symptoms of a cold or the flu. Anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the sachets should not use them. These sachets should also not be used if you have or had any of the following:
