What is Balneum Cream Pump?

Balenum Cream Pump is a form of treatment that is designed to treat the effects of eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions. This Balneum Cream contains 2 active ingredients that help to treat the symptoms. These are:

  • Urea
  • Lauromacrogols

Urea is a substance that is found naturally in the skin. This can be used to help hydrate the skin. The other ingredient, lauromacrogols, are local anaesthetics that soothe itchy skin.

What is eczema?

Eczema is a skin condition that can affect anyone. Eczema is the result of the skin not being able to hold in moisture. The dry skin makes it more likely for the skin to become red and itchy. Atopic eczema is caused by an allergic reaction. Contact dermatitis (dermatitis is another name for eczema) is caused by coming into contact with certain substances that cause the reaction of the condition. There is no known cure for eczema at this time. The effects of eczema can be reduced with the right treatment though.

Who is this Balneum Cream suitable for?

This cream is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 2 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the cream. If you are using any other form of medication, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this cream?

Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a medical professional before using this treatment.

How should Balneum Cream Pump be used?

Apply the cream using clean hands to the affected areas of the skin. Do this twice a day until the symptoms of the skin condition have reduced.

Are there any side effects?

Like many types of medication, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:

  • Burning sensation on the skin
  • Redness of the skin
  • Itchiness
  • Eczema getting worse
  • Pustules on the skin
  • An allergic reaction, including swelling in the face

If you notice a side effect, stop using and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
