What is Regaine®? 

Regaine® is the only over-the-counter treatment in the UK that has been clinically proven to help prevent further hereditary hair loss, showing success in 4 out of 5 men. For some people it even reverses the process, resulting in regrowth. 

The solution, containing the active ingredient Minoxidil, should be applied to the scalp twice a day to help kick start your follicles. 

How Regaine® works.

What is Minoxidil?Minoxidil, the active ingredient in Regaine®, has been extensively researched and tested for its effectiveness in treating hereditary hair loss. Scientists believe it works by helping the blood flow to the hair follicle, stimulating and prolonging hair growth. It has been shown to help prevent further hair loss in 4 out of 5 men and help stimulate regrowth for a thicker, fuller head of hair.

Is Regaine® right for you? 

Regaine® will only work if your hair loss is hereditary. 

The typical pattern of hereditary hair loss is a receding hairline at the brow and temples, followed by thinning on the crown. 

Does it work for everybody?

No, there are several factors that might influence the results from Regaine® including: 

The predominance of hereditary hair loss in your family 

The length of time you've been losing your hair 

The type of hair loss condition you have 

The area of hair loss on your scalp

Reasons for not using Regaine®

If you have heart disease, angina or you are taking medication for blood pressure, you should check with your Doctor before using Regaine®. 

Once you've got the all clear, you can start using it straight away.

You shouldn't use Regaine® if: 

You are under 18 or over 65 years of age 

Your scalp is red, inflamed, irritated, infected, painful or shaven 

Your hair loss is sudden or patchy 

You have a problem with your blood pressure 

You don't know why you are losing your hair - ask your doctor 

You have other conditions associated with hair loss 

What to expect 

Just as you didn't lose your crowning glory overnight, nor will you have an instant bushy barnet tomorrow morning. 

Hair growth is a slow process, but as our results show, Regaine® is effective if you follow the instructions and keep up the treatments.

Clinical trials show that Regaine® helps prevent further hair loss for 4 out of 5 men, while Regaine® Extra Strength has been proven to re-grow some hair for 3 out of 5. 

Visible differences can appear within 2 to 4 months but it can take 12 months for the best results. 

Some people may see regrowth in as little as eight weeks when using the stronger variety. 

Regaine® Regular Strength is most effective if you have only recently started to lose your hair.

Two to six weeks after starting treatment you might notice slightly more hair loss, but don't panic. This is completely normal and is caused by your hair follicles shifting from a dormant phase to an active growing phase. As the new hair growth begins, your old hairs are released and fall out.

Hair loss is a slow process because of the long life cycle of a healthy hair in the follicle. Therefore, treating hair loss via the hair follicles will naturally take time.

When will I see results?

Regaine® won't turn you into a long haired love god overnight. It's not magic. The speed of results depends on various factors, including which product you're using.

Regaine® Extra Strength tends to work more quickly, in some cases making a difference in as little as 8 weeks. However, it can take anywhere between 2 and 4 months, with best results after a year.

Regaine® Regular Strength can produce results in about 16 weeks, but again, the effect may continue to improve with the best results showing up to 12 months into treatment. 

Because everyone is different, it's impossible to give a definitive answer. Just be patient and give it time to work.
