Philip’s Smartimer® technology
The Philips HX6511 Sonicare toothbrush comes with a Smartimer, which encourages two-minute brushing as recommended by dental professionals. The Smartimer automatically stops your Sonicare toothbrush after the dentist-recommended brushing time of two minutes has elapsed. If you switch the toothbrush off at any time during the brushing cycle, for instance to rinse or apply more toothpaste, the Smartimer interrupts its timing and resumes where it left off when you switch the appliance back on again.

Although a two-minute brushing session is recommended for optimal results, you can always stop or restart the toothbrush at any time by pressing the power button. When the handle is placed in the charger, the Smartimer automatically resets to ensure a complete two-minute brushing cycle the next time you use it. The Smartimer also resets itself if you stop your Sonicare toothbrush for more than 45 seconds.

Philip’s Quadpacer® 30-second interval timer
The Philips HX6932/10 Quadpacer feature beeps at 30-second intervals during the two-minute brushing period, telling you when to move the toothbrush to the next section, thus making sure that you brush all sections of your mouth evenly and thoroughly. The Quadpacer takes the guesswork out of when to move the brush from the outside of the teeth to the inside, and from the upper teeth to the lower teeth.
