Medinol Over 6 paracetamol oral suspension BP 250mg/5ml contains the following active ingredient: Paracetamol BP

 

It also contains the following inactive ingredients: Sodium methylhydroxybenzoate BP E219, sodium propylhydroxybenzoate BP E217 sodium saccharin BP, sodium cyclamate BP 1968, tragacanth BP lycasin 80/55, strawberry flavour PFW 50023E, water.

 

Uses

For the relief of mild to moderate pain including headache, migraine, neuralgia, toothache and sore throat. Symptomatic relief from aches and pains, influenza, feverishness and colds.

 

Before using Medinol Over 6 paracetamol oral suspension BP 250mg/5ml

the following information should be read:

1 Do not give with any other paracetamol-containing products.

2 Do not use this product if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients listed at the beginning of this leaflet, in particular E217 and E219 which can cause allergic reactions such as shin rashes and very rarely breathing difficulties.

3 This medicine should be used with caution if you suffer from impaired kidney or liver function. If in doubt, consult your doctor.

4 The following product types may increase the toxicity of paracetamol in the liver: Alcohol, barbiturates (for long term insomnia), anti-convulsants and tricyclic antidepressants.

 

If you are taking any of these products, consult your doctor before using this medicine.

 

5 The active ingredient in this medicine, paracetamol, is known to interact with the following drug substances:

 

Metoclopramide and domperidone (for nausea and vomiting), cholestyramine (for high blood cholesterol), chloramphenicol (an antibiotic) and warfarin (to thin the blood).

 

If you are taking any of these products, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.

 

6 Do not give this medicine to children under six years of age.

7 If pain or fever persists for more than three days, consult your doctor.

8 This product contains Paracetamol - do not exceed the stated dose.

9 Prolonged use of this product, except under medical supervision can be harmful.

10 Make sure this product is suitable for you to use - ask your doctor or pharmacist,

11 Use this product as directed by your doctor or pharmacist, or read the directions on the carton.

12 Keep out of reach of children.

 

Directions for using Medinol Over 6 paracetamol oral suspension BP

Dosage

To be taken up to four times daily.

Do not repeat doses more frequently than every four hours

 

Adults, the Elderly and children over 12 years of age: Two to four 5ml spoonfuls.

 

Children aged 6-12 years: One to two 5ml spoonfuls

 

Not suitable for children under 6 years of age

Do not take more than four doses in 24 hours

 

Overdose

Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if the child seems well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.

 

Undesirable effects

The following undesirable effects have been reported following use of this product:

1 Allergic reactions including skin rashes

2 Blood disorders

 

Should you experience these or any other reaction, stop using the product and report it to your doctor or pharmacist who will advise you of the necessary action to take.
