Lemsip Max Day & Night Cold & Flu Relief Capsules for the symptomatic relief of colds and flu -

Lemsip Max Day & Night Cold & Flu Relief Capsules contains a combination of ingredients which are effective in relieving the symptoms associated with colds and flu, including relief of aches and pains, sore throat; headache; nasal congestion and lowering of temperature.

 

Paracetamol is a well known painkiller (analgesic). It is effective against aches and pains, including a headache, and can also reduce a fever (antipyretic).

 

Phenylephrine hydrochloride (nasal decongestant) reduces swelling in the passages of the nose, relieving nasal congestion and reducing the pressure which may cause a headache.

 

The Night capsule which contains paracetamol and phenylephrine hydrochloride helps allow sleep through relief of nasal congestion. The Night capsule does not contain any ingredients to make you drowsy. The Day capsule contains the extra ingredient caffeine, which acts as a mild stimulant to relieve fatigue and drowsiness during the day.

 

It is important to drink plenty of fluids when suffering from colds and flu.

 

Lemsip Max Day & Night Cold & Flu Relief Capsules

There are two types of capsules in the pack:

 

Day Capsules

Each red and yellow Day capsule contains the active ingredients paracetamol 500mg and phenylephrine hydrochloride 6.1mg and caffeine 25mg

 

The other ingredients are starch, croscarmellose sodium, sodium laurilsulfate, magnesium stearate, sterilised talc, gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171), quinoline yellow (E104), patent blue V (E131), erythrosin (E127), shellac, tartrazine (E102) and aluminium hydroxide.

 

Night Capsule

Each blue and red Night capsule contains the active ingredients paracetamol 500mg and phenylephrine hydrochloride 6.1mg

 

The other ingredients are starch, croscarmellose sodium, sodium laurilsulfate, magnesium stearate, sterilised talc, gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171), quinoline yellow (E104), patent blue V (E131), erythrosin (E127), shellac, tartrazine (E102) and aluminium hydroxide.

 

Before taking Lemsip Max Day & Night Cold & Flu Relief Capsules

As with all medicines Lemsip Max Daytime Cold & Flu Relief Capsules may not be suitable for some people

 

Do not take this medicine if:

 

you have an overactive thyroid, or

you have a serious heart condition, or

you have high blood pressure (hypertension), or

you are allergic to any ingredient, or

you are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI antidepressants) within 14 days, or

you have cerebral or aortic aneurysm

Do not take any other paracetamol-containing products

Do not take with large quantities of alcohol

 

You should ask your doctor before taking Lemsip Max Daytime Cold & Flu Relief Capsules if:

 

you are pregnant, or have Raynaud's syndrome or diabetes, or

you are taking beta-blockers for high blood pressure, or vasodilators, or

you are taking tricyclic antidepressants, other decongestants, or barbiturates, or

you have a problem with your liver or kidneys, or a history of peptic ulcer, or

you are taking other medicines. Some drugs may affect the absorption of paracetamol, including those used to treat blood cholesterol (cholestyramine) and nausea and vomiting (metoclopramide and domperidone). The effect of blood thinning drugs (warfarin and other coumarins) may be increased by paracetamol. Caffeine elimination is inhibited by cimetidine, disulfiram and oral contraceptives

How much to take

The dosage for;

 

Adults and chIldren over 12 years:

Two (2) red and yellow Day capsules every 4 hours during the day.

Do not take more than six (6) Day capsules in 24 hour

 

Two (2) blue and red Night capsules to be taken at night

Do not take more than two (2) capsules in 24 hour

Do not take more than eight (8) capsules combinded in 24 hour

 

Children 6-12 years: One (1) red and yellow Day capsule to be taken every 4 hours during the day.

Do not take more than three (3) capsules in 24 hours

 

One (1) blue and red Night capsules to be taken at night

Do not take more than one (1) capsules in 24 hour

Do not take more than four (4) capsules combined in 24 hour

 

Do not give to children under 6 years

 

This product should only be taken when symptoms are present

 

In the case of a missed dose, simply take when the nest dose is due

 

If the symptoms of your cold or flu persist for more than three days, or worsen, consult your pharmacist

 

How to take Lemsip Max Day & Night Cold & Flu Relief Capsules

The capsules should be swallowed whole with water. Do not chew.

 

What side-effects may occur?

 

allergic reactions (such as skin rashes), or

blood reactions (such as thrombocytopenia (deficiency of platelets resulting in bruising

or susceptibility to bleeding) or agranulocytosis (reduction in white blood cells which makes infections more likely)), or

gastrointestinal irritation or nausea (stomach ache or feeling sick), or

CNS stimulation (insomnia, restlessness, nervousness or mild delirium), or

high blood pressure with headache, vomiting and palpitations may occur.

(This product also contains tartrazine which may cause allergic type reactions including

asthma, this is more common in people who are allergic to aspirin).

 

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any side effects after taking this product

 

Caffeine, if taken close to bedtime' may interfere with sleep
