Femstrual Tablets

Femstrual tablets consist of a type of medicine known as anti-fibrinolytics with the active ingredient tranexamic acid. Femstrual tablets are used to reduce heavy bleeding associated with the menstrual cycle.

When the blood clots it is due to the red cells and platelets binding together and this is accomplished by a substance called fibrin. Once the process of clotting has been fulfilled the clots are dissolved by another the production of plasmin. This plasmin deconstructs the fibrin in turn making the blood clots breakdown.

The Tranexamic acid in the Femstrual tablets stops the action of the enzyme that produces fibrin and therefore reduces the amount of bleeding. Menstrual bleeding that is generally considered to be heavy is thought to occur when there are high levels of plasmin producing enzymes in the lining of the womb.
