Calpol Six Plus Fastmelts should be sucked gently until they melt on the tongue.
There is no need to take Calpol Six Plus Fastmelts with a glass of water as they quickly melt into a pleasant tasting paste that is easily swallowed. Alternatively the tablet can be dispersed in a teaspoonful of water or milk.
Calpol Six Plus Fastmelts are white strawberry flavoured tablets which melt in your mouth.
Use
The paracetamol in Calpol Six Plus Fastmelts is used to relieve pain and bring down fever (high temperature).
Calpol Six Plus Fastmelts can also be used to relieve pain, headache, sore throat and aches and pains that come with colds and flu.
Ingredients
Each tablet contains 250mg of the active ingredient paracetamol in a strawberry flavoured base.
Directions:
Tablets can be sucked gently until they melt on the tongue. There is no need to take water as they melt into a pleasant tasting paste which is easily swallowed. Alternatively the tablet can be dissolved in a teaspoonful of water or milk if preferred.
Children 6-12 years - 1 to 2 tablets (250 to 500 mg paracetamol) up to 4 times a day if necessary
Adults and children over 12 years - 2 to 4 tablets (500 to 1000mg paracetamol)
Up to 4 times a day if necessary
Do not use more tablets than shown in the above
Do not exceed the recommended dose
Leave at least 4 hours between doses
Do not use more than 4 doses in 24 hours
Do not give your child this medicine for more than 3 days without speaking to your doctor
If your child's pain or fever is not getting better after a few days talk to your doctor
Side-effects
Calpol Six Plus Fastmelts can have side effects, like all medicines, although these don't affect everyone and are usually mild.
Long term use:
People who use medicines containing paracetamol every day for a long time (several months or more) could get certain side effects, including liver and kidney damage. People taking paracetamol in the usual way for shorter periods have not had these problems.
Warnings
Do not give your child this medicine:
If s/he has ever had an allergic or bad reaction to any of the ingredients
If s/he is taking anything else with paracetamol in it
If s/he has phenylketonuria
(a hereditary disease discovered at birth)
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist:
If your child has serious kidney or liver problems or is taking any other medicines.
