How to use
Adults and children aged 12 years and over: 2 caplets to be taken every four to six hours as necessary. Do not take more than 8 caplets in 24 hours.
Children aged 6 to under 12 years: 1 caplet to be given every four to six hours as necessary. Do not give more than 4 caplets in 24 hours.
Do not give to children under 6 years of age

When to use
Use Beechams Flu Plus Caplets are used for the relief of the symptoms of colds, flu and chills. These symptoms include headache, shivers, aches and pains, congested or blocked nose, painful sinuses and sore throat pain.
What is in Beechams Flu Plus Caplets?
Each tablet contains: Paracetamol Ph Eur 500 mg, Caffeine Ph Eur 25 mg, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride Ph Eur 5 mg as the active ingredients. The tablet also contains vitamin C (ascorbic acid), soluble starch, maize starch, povidone, potassium sorbate (E202), sodium lauryl sulphate, stearic acid, talc, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, ethyl cellulose, polyethylene glycol and colours titanium dioxide (E171), sunset yellow (E110) and quinoline yellow (E104).
Important
Do not take with other medicines for the relief of flu, colds or congestion or with other paracetamol - containing products.
Do not take more than the stated dose.
Do not take Beechams Flu Plus Caplets if:
You are allergic to paracetamol, phenylephrine hydrochloride, caffeine or any of the ingredients listed above. Colour E110 can cause allergic-type reactions including asthma. Allergy is more common in those people allergic to aspirin. Potassium sorbate can cause skin rashes.
you suffer from severe kidney or liver problems, overactive thyroid, or are under the care of your doctor for high blood pressure or heart disease.
you are taking drugs for heart problems (including beta-blockers) or you are taking (or have taken within the last two weeks) drugs called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) prescribed by your doctor or hospital for depression.
If you are taking other medicines:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Beechams Flu Plus Caplets if you are taking any other medicine, particularlymetoclopramide or domperidone - used to treat nausea and vomiting
cholestyramine - used to treat high blood cholesterol
medicines to thin your blood (anti-coagulants) e.g. warfarin
If you are pregnant or breast feeding:
As with all medicines you should ask your doctor before using Beechams Flu Plus Caplets if you are pregnant. You should only use this product at this time if your doctor thinks it appropriate and necessary.
If you are breast feeding ask your doctor before taking Beechams Flu Plus Caplets. Usually the product can be taken at this time.
Overdose
Taking more Beechams Flu Plus Caplets than recommended on the pack or in this leaflet may be harmful. Immediate medical advice should he sought in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.
Side-effects
The ingredients in Beechams Flu Plus Caplets are usually well tolerated in normal use. Paracetamol rarely causes any problems but allergic reactions, such as skin rash, occasionally occur. There have been very rare reports of blood disorders but these were not necessarily caused by paracetamol. Phenylephrine can cause heart palpitations, nausea, headache and blood pressure increases.
If you get these or any other unusual effects, stop taking Beechams Flu Plus Caplets and tell your doctor or pharmacist at once.
